”The Island Wake” 13th November @ 8pm
Fergus Cleary’s The Island Wake comes to the Abbey Arts Centre, Ballyshannon, in aid of Cancer Care West Tuesday 13th November @ 8pm €12/10
Fergus Cleary and his cast are staging their hilarious comedy “The Island Wake” in the Abbey Arts Centre on Thursday November 13th at 8pm in aid of Cancer Care West.
Fergus is the first to admit that he completely underestimated the reaction to his play. Initially it was booked for one night only in the Balor Arts Centre, Ballybofey and the feedback was so positive that if has since been staged in ten different locations ranging from Culdaff to Aranmore Island and raising in excess of €12,000 for various worthy causes along the way. Fergus decided to direct and produce the play himself but soon discovered that his cast (all ten of them) interpreted their roles so well and so accurately that very little direction was required and standing ovations seem to be the order of the day when the show concludes
Fergus (who incidentally drives the Cancer bus to Galway) is fully conscious and aware of the need for continuous fundraising to keep this excellent Cancer Centre going. Those who have to use the Centre in Galway will be the first to tell everyone of the first-class care and consideration they receive from the minute they arrive to the day of their departure and the cast of the Island Wake intend to raise much needed funds to keep the standard so high at Cancer Care West and they also intend to stage a hilarious comedy that everyone will relish and enjoy.
