Ray Cooney, internationally acclaimed playwright and farce master, has had seventeen of his plays produced on London’s West End. His most imfamous, Run For Your Wife, ran for nine years and holds the record as the longest ever running West End comedy show. Why Not Stay For Breakfast? is classic Cooney and is one of his most popular works.
A hugely entertaining cocktail of ribald humour, mismatches and misunderstandings, George Ennis’s calm and uncomplicated world is turned up-side-down by the arrival at his door of Louise, a young hippie girl from the apartment upstairs, who has just left her boyfriend and is looking to borrow money for her train fare back home.
In this Balor Rep production, directed by Monica Doherty, the part of George Ennis is played by Dungloe actor Kevin Gallagher, with Kathleen Bradley – one of the best comic actresses around – as Louise.
The Balor Rep’s touring show has always been a hugely popular aspect of the Festival programme. Audiences will remember last year’s hilarious Fly Me To The Moon as well as those hugely popular productions from recent years, such as Long Gone Lonesome Cowgirls, The Country Boy and Stand by Your Man-The Tammy Wynette Story. This new show promises another memorable night of brilliant acting, plenty of laughs and great entertainment guaranteed.
