A small group of middle-aged men live in quiet seclusion on the Chilean coast with their housekeeper – they are in fact disgraced Catholic priests who have been exiled by the Church.

The delicate equilibrium of their existence remains undisturbed until the addition of a new priest to this “club”, followed by the arrival of a stranger seeking justice for past crimes he believes the new exile committed, leads to violence.

Winner of the 2015 Grand Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival, the latest work from Chilean writer/director Pablo Larraín (No, Tony Manero) is an unflinching, emotionally complex, gripping morality tale and an incisive companion piece to this year’s Oscar-winning Spotlight.

 Quotes:

“The Club sees [Larraín] at his most masterful … the film’s compassion is strongly felt, its mordant humour glinting like a blade. Five stars.” – The Guardian, Berlin International Film Festival 2015

“Chilean director Pablo Larraín’s savage but sardonic new film about patterns of abuse and subterfuge in the Catholic Church […] Crucial, thrilling and disturbing” – Time Out, Berlin International Film Festival 2015
