Abbey Arts Productions Presents The Vagina Monologues 9th Sept 8.30pm
The Vagina Monologues
Abbey Arts Productions run of the highly acclaimed, funny and moving The Vagina Monologues returns for one night only 9th Sept at The Abey Centre in Ballyshannon.
Written by Eve Ensler’s, The Vagina Monologues first opened in 1996 at the Off Broadway Westside Theatre to significant critical acclaim – New York Times theatre critic Charles Isherwood calling it “probably the most important piece of political theatre of the last decade.”
It’s an episodic play consisting of a series of monologues on the stories of hundreds of women from all over the world. It’s an emotive gathering of female voices including a 6 year old girl, a rape survivor and a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter.
It’s a challenging and hard hitting piece delving into consensual and non consensual sexual experiences, body image and sex work in addition to a host of other controversial topics. As you may imagine the production covers the full gamut of human emotion as it strips fear and shame by confronting myths and disarming them but never fails to entertain.
Abbey Arts Productions present The Vagina Monologues on Sat 9th Sept at 8.30pm. In aid of the very worthy cause of combating Ovarian cancer. Admission is €15 and the ticket price includes a glass of wine and refreshments after the play. Tickets can be booked through The Abbey Centre on 071 985 1375.
